Watch Andrew Scotchie & the River Rats play Who Put The Hurtin' On You from Family Dynamo below!
Andrew Scotchie & the River Rats
Voted Western North Carolina's top Rock & Roll band three years in a row by Mountain Xpress Magazine, Andrew Scotchie & the River Rats latest release, Family Dynamo, has been highly anticipated since the release of We All Stay Hungry back in 2015. Though there has been a three year gap between the two releases, Andrew Scotchie & the River Rats have actively been sharpening their craft through touring year-round. The band started off as a street busking project in 2011, so it shouldn't come as a surprise that performing live runs in their veins.
Family Dynamo as a whole is masterfully crafted and truly exemplifies the bands ability to interweave traces of blues and soul throughout the album's ten rock & roll based tracks. According to Scotchie, the album was pieced together intentionally and is meant to be played from the front to the back, "just like the vinyl we grew up loving." In fact, there are limited edition copies of the album on transparent vinyl available on their website cut by local Vinyl Manufacturing company, American Vinyl Co..
Currently, the band consists of Andrew Scotchie on guitar and lead vocals, Keith Harry on bass and backup vocals, Eliza Hill on drums, Alex Bradley on Trumpet, and Kyle Snuffer on trombone. With the addition of the horn section, Andrew Sotchie & the River Rats leave a breadcrumb trail for listeners to instantly feel nostalgic for late 90's/early 2000's ska punk bands like Save Ferris and Streetlight Manifesto. Not only do they have the ska rock sound, but they have a female drummer- whats more rock & roll than that!
